Eddie Betts has advanced to the Goal of Year final for the third season in succession.
Betts is among three finalists competing for the title after he was nominated for his incredible goal against Greater Western Sydney in Round 10.
The livewire Crow lunged at a loose ball on the boundary line late in the third quarter of the clash with the Giants. Betts trapped the Sherrin, exploded past two opponents and snapped a miracle major on his right boot.
Betts booted five goals in Adelaide’s win over the Giants, which included a second Goal of the Year nomination in the dying stages of the match.
He was nominated a total of four times this season.
Betts won last year’s Goal of the Year title for his amazing torpedo against Fremantle from the same pocket as this year’s contender. He was also a finalist in 2014 after slotting a miraculous checkside against North Melbourne.
Betts kicked his first Goal of the Year in 2006, again from the boundary line, while playing for Carlton.
North Melbourne’s Shaun Atley and Sydey’s Lance Franklin are this year’s other Goal of the Year finalists.
Rory Lobb of Greater Western Sydney, Joe Daniher from Essendon and North Melbourne’s Majak Daw are the 2016 Mark of the Year contenders.
Voting closes at 11.30pm (ACST) on Thursday, September 15. The winners will be revealed at this year's Brownlow Medal presentation on Monday, September 26.
