Three players will face fitness tests ahead of Adelaide’s Week One clash with Port Adelaide on Saturday night.

Tall Caitlin Gould missed the Crows’ pre-season game against Carlton with a quad injury, however she will be given every chance to prove her fitness for the Showdown.

“Caitlin didn’t play in the trial game against Carlton because she had a slight quad strain,” Head of Women’s Football Phil Harper said.

“She’s been able to run the whole time which is positive, and she started kicking earlier this week with a modified ball.

“We’re going to give her every chance to play so we will see how that goes and make a call on that later in the week.”

First year player Tamara Henry (shoulder) and second year player Brooke Smith (quad) will also be tested for this week.

“Tamara Henry hurt her shoulder before our last trial match and has been rehabbing well so will be a chance to play this week,” Harper said.

“Brooke has been out for quite some time, she didn’t play either of the trial games, but she had a quad strain which she has been rehabbing for three weeks.

“She should be right for this week, but we won’t make a final call on that until later in the week.”

Utilities Hannah Munyard (hip) and Najwa Allen (hamstring) have been ruled out of the match.

Munyard sustained a hip injury in the Club’s pre-season game against Carlton while Allen suffered a hamstring injury at training before the match.

“Naj hurt her hamstring at training a couple of weeks ago, she’s rehabbing well, and we expect her to be alright by hopefully Week Two or Three,” Harper said.

“Hannah is similar, she hurt her hip against Carlton in the last trial game and is probably a chance to get back for Week Two or Three.”

In positive news, midfielder Teah Charlton re-joined main training this week as she recovers from foot surgery.

Charlton will join fellow midfielder Abbie Ballard in aiming for a return to play in the next few weeks.
