Adelaide has added six players to its extended squad ahead of Sunday’s clash against Hawthorn at Adelaide Oval.
Alongside the changes, forward Darcy Fogarty has been named to captain the side in the absence of Jordan Dawson, who will miss Round 20 after being placed in concussion protocols.
Forward Taylor Walker headlines the inclusions, returning to the side after being managed for last week’s clash against Essendon.
Adelaide Head of Football Adam Kelly said the Club’s all-time leading goal-kicker would be a strong inclusion.
“Tex returns to the side after having the week off as a part of his season management,” Kelly said.
“As we stated last week, we believe it was a prudent decision that will afford Tex the best opportunity to finish the season strongly and he is certainly ready to go for the clash against the Hawks.”
James Borlase also returns following impressive form in the SANFL and will help cover fellow key defenders Jordon Butts (foot) and Nick Murray (knee), who will miss the clash due to injuries sustained against the Bombers.
“James has exhibited strong form throughout the season; both at AFL level and SANFL level, along with a terrific attitude,” Kelly said.
“He was an obvious selection in the absence of Jordon Butts and Nick Murray who will miss due to injury.”
Defender Josh Worrell has been added to the extended bench, having recovered from a broken arm he sustained in Round Nine.
Kelly said it was a testament to Worrell’s “diligent” rehabilitation that he was in line for an AFL recall after a 10 week lay-off.
“We welcome back Josh Worrell to footy after a 10 week lay off due to a fractured forearm,” Kelly said.
“Josh, who was in terrific form prior to injury, has worked diligently to have himself in selection consideration this week.”
Daniel Curtin, Chayce Jones and Ned McHenry round out the inclusions to the squad.
Adelaide will confirm its 23-man team on Friday at 4.30pm (ACST), when the extended bench will be cut to five.
