Adelaide has added four players to its extended squad, ahead of the Round 17 game against Brisbane on Sunday.

The Crows will head to the Gabba to take on the Lions and have named defenders Brodie Smith and James Borlase, as well as wingman Chayce Jones and forward Chris Burgess in the squad.

The extended bench will be cut to five when the Club names its final team on Friday afternoon.

Adelaide Head of Football Adam Kelly said Smith had shown improvement during the past two weeks in the SANFL.

“Brodie has responded to his omission from the side in the best way possible with a terrific attitude and strong SANFL performances,” Kelly said.

“Having not been previously omitted from the side during his 259 game career, his response is testament to his character and team-first approach to his footy.

“We have great respect for the way in which he has conducted himself over the past few weeks.”

The Club announced earlier on Thursday that defender Will Hamill would miss the next three to four weeks with a broken finger.

Adelaide will name its final team on Friday at 4.30pm.

The Crows face Brisbane at the Gabba on Sunday at 3.40pm (ACST).

“We have enjoyed the challenge of taking on the Lions over the past few seasons and have great regard for them as a Club,” Kelly said.

“Part of finishing the year strongly and building momentum is to be able to challenge the best and they are one of the form teams in the competition.

“We are clear on what we need to do to be in the contest on Sunday.”
