Draftee Elliott Himmelberg will be aiming to become only the third player to wear the No.34 for Adelaide in a match for premiership points.
Himmelberg, 18, was recruited with the Club’s third pick (No.51 overall) in the 2016 AFL National Draft.
The versatile key-position player takes over the No.34 from Sam Shaw, who retired because of concussion-related symptoms last month. Shaw has been placed on Adelaide’s rookie list for administrative purposes in relation to the pending Collective Bargaining Agreement and his access to welfare assistance. The defender played 24 games in the No.34 over four seasons.
Australian Football Hall of Famer and two-time Club Champion Ben Hart was the first (and only other) Crow to don the number. Hart played 311 games, ranked fourth all-time at Adelaide, in the No.34.
In other number news, midfielder Myles Poholke will wear the No.31, while young Crows Harrison Wigg (no.10) and Jake Kelly (No.8) have moved into new lockers.
