Adelaide forward Chris Burgess says the side must do more to maintain its momentum in games, following its loss to Geelong on Friday night.

The Cats had the upper hand in the first half, before the Crows flicked a switch and a goal by Izak Rankine midway through the third quarter handed Adelaide the lead.

But Geelong was able to wrestle back the ascendancy and two quick goals to Tom Hawkins helped the Cats to a 24-point lead at three-quarter time.

The Cats then went on to claim a 14.12 (96) to 11.11 (77) win at Adelaide Oval.

Burgess spoke on the inaugural Crows Live episode, a new post-game show giving Members and fans access to players and coaches at home games, and said an inability to capitalise on momentum hurt the side.

“We’ve just got to hang onto that momentum and not let teams take that back away from us,” Burgess said.

“We started the third really strong and probably played the best we had all game. We just needed to hold that momentum and not let them get a few easy goals.

“We just wanted to use that momentum from the second half (against the Suns) and try to bring that into this game, unfortunately we weren’t able to do that.”

The 28-year-old, who was recruited to the Crows via a trade with Gold Coast in November, said the side would also be looking to work on its entries inside-50 ahead of next week.

In a positive, however, Burgess booted his first two goals in the tri colours on Friday night.

Having supported the Crows growing up, Burgess said it was a proud moment but was disappointed his side could not get the victory.

“It was good to get on the scoreboard and try and help the boys out but unfortunately we couldn’t get the win,” Burgess said.

“We talked about it (forward-line entries) post-game, we just needed to pass to post a bit more and just lower our eyes a little bit going inside-50.

“I felt like we played a lot of the game in our front half and we just weren’t able to capitalise.”
