Interested onlookers may have seen a former Port Adelaide captain donning an interesting piece of headwear at Richmond Oval on Saturday afternoon.

Working as a boundary rider for Triple M, recently retired Power skipper Tom Jonas found himself in need of a hat as the March sun beamed down.

Enter Taylor Walker.

Speaking to Roo, Ditts and Loz on Triple M Adelaide Breakfast, the Crows forward explained his interaction with Jonas, and what he did to help.

“On these hot days during pre-season games you have to be sun smart, so I had my Crows hat on as I went out to have a little look at the Richmond Oval deck,” Walker said.

“While I was out there was one of Triple M’s very own, who is also one of Port Adelaide’s very own, Tommy Jonas came up to me with quite a red forehead and made mention that he wish he brought a hat.

“So out of the goodness of my heart I thought I’d offer up my Crows hat and, well you can probably work out the rest of the story.”

Walker and his Adelaide teammates enjoyed a solid outing at Richmond Oval on Saturday afternoon, defeating West Coast by 67 points.

Reflecting on the match, he said there were two young midfielders that stood out to him.

“The young boys (Sam Berry and Jake Soligo) were very good for us on the weekend,” Walker said.

“They both didn’t put a foot wrong and after putting together great pre-season’s will be right in contention for a spot in the side against Gold Coast.”
