Adelaide defender Najwa Allen has been suspended for three games by the AFLW Tribunal on Tuesday night.
Allen was charged with rough conduct for an incident involving Western Bulldogs forward Kirsten McLeod in the first quarter of Friday’s win at Norwood Oval.
The Match Review Officer graded the incident as careless with severe impact and high contact.
At the AFLW Tribunal on Tuesday night, Allen pleaded guilty to the charge of rough conduct, with her counsel Andrew Culshaw arguing for the classification to be downgraded from severe to high.
Mr Culshaw said Allen had intended to make a legal shepherd and the level of force used did not warrant the grading of severe impact.
The tribunal handed Allen a three-game suspension, meaning she will miss Adelaide’s upcoming matches against Brisbane, North Melbourne and West Coast.
Adelaide Head of Women’s Football Phil Harper said the Club was "extremely disappointed with the outcome at the tribunal".
“We know Najwa is a fair player who never set out to hurt Kirsten (McLeod) and her intention was to make a legal shepherd to help her teammate," Harper said.
“We will now assess our options in the next 24 hours, regarding an appeal.”
