ADELAIDE coach Brenton Sanderson has conceded his side's finals hopes are forlorn following Saturday's 22-point loss to Fremantle at Patersons Stadium.
The result leaves the Crows at least two games outside the top eight with five rounds remaining.
If Port Adelaide beats the Brisbane Lions on Sunday the Crows would be three games back with matches against the Power, North Melbourne, Western Bulldogs, Melbourne and West Coast to finish their year.
"We have to live with that this week," Sanderson said after the match.
"We have eight days to lick our wounds, freshen the boys up."
Those wounds may be tough to heal in the short-term as the Crows' injury toll mounts. Patrick Dangerfield and Ben Rutten are expected return for next Sunday's Showdown but the Crows could potentially lose both Josh Jenkins and Shaun McKernan with ankle injuries.
Jenkins' injury looked particularly severe, as he was taken from the ground on a stretcher in the last quarter after landing awkwardly in a marking contest.
"He's off to hospital now for X-rays and scans," Sanderson said.
"McKernan’s an ankle, not as serious as the Jenkins one. He’ll be touch and go for this week."
Bernie Vince copped a knee to the head that required stitches but a defiant Sanderson said Vince would be fine for next week.
"We won’t be giving up, we will fight this season out," Sanderson said.
"We’ll be going as hard as we can until the siren sounds in the fourth quarter of our last game."
