Adelaide midfielder Rory Laird will miss the Crows' clash with Melbourne at the MCG on Sunday.
Crows Senior Coach Matthew Nicks confirmed the news to the media on Thursday, saying a shoulder injury would sideline the three-time Club Champion this weekend.
Although disappointing to be without Laird, Nicks said he was confident the Crows had enough depth to cover the loss.
“Lairdy won’t play this weekend, he’s just a little bit banged up and his shoulder is a bit too sore, so we won’t take a risk there,” Nicks said.
“That changes a few things for us, he’s obviously a really important part of our midfield.
“We will be able to give the opportunity to others that are playing some really good footy at SANFL level.
“It’s disappointing that Lairdy won’t be there but we have got guys there who can take the opportunity.”
Adelaide will name its squad for the Round 19 match against Melbourne on Thursday at 5.50pm.
The Crows will then name their final team on Friday at 4.30pm.
Adelaide plays Melbourne at the MCG on Sunday at 2.50pm (ACST).
