The Crows and Demons are no stranger to putting on a nail-biter.

Ahead of Sunday afternoon's clash at the MCG we went back and re-lived some of our favourites.

Adelaide ends Melbourne’s streak – Round 10, 2021

In Round 10, 2021 Adelaide pulled off a famous victory to hand Melbourne its first loss of the 2021 season.

The Crows were up for the fight from the opening bounce with the margin less than a goal at the end of each of the opening three terms.

After keeping themselves in the contest for most of the game, Adelaide found itself having to rally back late after falling behind by 16 points with just eight minutes remaining.

Key forwards Taylor Walker and Darcy Fogarty stepped up, both booting majors to bring the deficit to just five points.

With 90 seconds Rory Sloane delivered the ball inside forward 50, where Walker cleverly outmuscled All-Australian Demons defender Steven May.

He then went back and kicked truly to give Adelaide a one-point lead, before some desperate defence in the closing seconds saw the Crows seal a memorable victory.

Defender Paul Seedsman played his part, collecting a team-high 35 disposals, seven marks and 657 metres-gained, while Ben Keays had 34 touches, seven tackles and booted two majors.

There was extra reason to celebrate post-game with it being Riley Thilthorpe’s first win as a Crow.

Crows prevail in see-sawing affair – Semi-Final, 2002

In the 2002 AFL Finals Series, Adelaide found itself matched up against Melbourne in a do-or-die semi-final.

While Adelaide got off to a fantastic start in the opening quarter to lead by 40 points at the first break, the success was short-lived after the Demons responded to bring the margin back to 17 points at half-time.

Melbourne continued to dominate after the main break, outscoring the Crows 53 to 14 in the third term to lead by 22 points.

Having managed just six goals since quarter time and conceding 15, it appeared the Crows were set for a semi-final exit.

But they remarkably flipped the script, booting the first five goals of the final term to outscore Melbourne 41 to seven and win by 12 points.

Former Crow Mark Stevens led the way up forward with four goals and three marks inside 50, while Tyson Edwards (26 disposals and two goals) and Simon Goodwin (25 disposals and two majors) were instrumental.

Adelaide rally back in the Top End – Round 11, 2019

In Round 11, 2019 the Crows put together an inspired second half to defeat the Demons by two points at TIO Stadium in Darwin.

Adelaide was unable to match Melbourne’s scoring output early, finding itself trailing by as much as 31 points during the third quarter.

However, from that point onwards the Crows flipped the switch, kicking eight of the final nine goals of the contest.

Accuracy in front of the big sticks proved the difference with Melbourne wasteful with its opportunities, kicking 1.8 in the final term, while the Crows booted 5.2.

Brad Crouch was massive for Adelaide kicking the goal which started Adelaide’s comeback in the third as well as booting the major which gave the Crows the lead and ultimately the win late in the fourth.

All-in-all the former Crow finished with three goals, 29 disposals and seven clearances, while Tom Lynch added another three majors to go along with his 26 touches and 13 marks.

Adelaide survives late scare – Round Three, 2006

In Round Three, 2006 Adelaide survived a late scare against the Demons, holding on to win by five points in Darwin.

The Crows were in a commanding position after quarter time, jumping out to a 29-point advantage thanks to a four goal first term by Brett Burton.

A high scoring second term ensued with the Demons able to slim down the margin to 13 points.

Adelaide took control of the game back in the third to comfortably lead by 25 points, but Melbourne did not give up, coming back in the final term.

The Demons quickly reduced the deficit to 11 before a Mark Ricciuto major against the tide gave Adelaide some breathing room and slowed the Demon’s surging momentum.

Melbourne continued to persevere, kicking two more goals to bring itself to within a goal.

However a costly miss in the final 90 seconds by Demon Aaron Davey meant the Crows would hold on to win.

Ricciuto did not need much of the ball to make an impact, booting three goals and taking four marks inside 50 from 12 touches, while Ben Hart was solid down back with 18 disposals and nine marks.

Crows prevail in McLeod's debut – Round Six, 1995

In Round Six, 1995 Adelaide won a tight battle against the Demon’s in what was club great Andrew McLeod’s first game.

It was a low scoring affair at Football Park with Adelaide’s ability to capitalise on its opportunities giving them an 11-point advantage at half-time.

The final quarter was action packed with Melbourne starting strong by kicking the first three goals to lead by 11 points.

Adelaide struggled to find the goals, booting three behinds to start the term before Nigel Smart broke the deadlock with seven minutes remaining to bring Adelaide back within a goal.

Tony Modra and Mark Ricciuto then followed suit, adding a major each to give Adelaide an eight-point victory.
