The Crows have been bolstered by the return of 2010 best and fairest winner Richard Douglas for Saturday night’s blockbuster clash with Collingwood at AAMI Stadium.

Douglas, 25, injured his hamstring in Adelaide’s win over the Western Bulldogs in round two.

The skilful midfielder made a successful return with SANFL club Glenelg last weekend and has been recalled to the Adelaide side at the expense of forward Tom Lynch, who started as the substitute against Carlton. Douglas is the only change to the team that beat the Blues by 69 points.

A number of other Crows-listed players displayed good form in the local league last weekend, but coach Brenton Sanderson said he didn’t want to flirt with a winning formula.

“Dougy has missed a fair bit of footy, but he kicked four goals for Glenelg and played really well. He makes us better when he’s in the team, so that was an obvious change,” Sanderson told afc.com.au.

“The other guys in the team are in good form, so it’s tough to make too many alterations. Tommy Lynch is unfortunate because, again, he misses out but he probably only played 25 minutes last week and with the game probably going to be wet on Saturday night we don’t need to have too many tall forwards.

“Douglas suits the likely conditions. He’s a true professional. He ticks every box and is really well conditioned. He had a great summer and he’ll slot back in perfectly. I don’t see any issues with his match fitness at all.”

The emergencies are Chris Knights, Brad Symes and Andy Otten.

The SANFL has a bye this weekend to make room for the State League representative match between South Australia and Western Australia.

Players not included in the Crows team this week will be put through match-simulation training at West Lakes on Friday before having the weekend off.
