Adelaide has given Bernie Vince a deferred suspension after his involvement in cricket team celebrations at a Stansbury hotel on Sunday.

Vince has also agreed to purchase 60 adult tickets (30 doubles) to Saturday night’s NAB Cup grand final for Crows members as a gesture of goodwill after again tarnishing the Club’s image.

Crows CEO Steven Trigg said management, coaches and the leadership group agreed that some form of disciplinary action was required given Vince’s involvement in several minor off-field indiscretions.

“In isolation, this does not seem to be a serious offence. He hasn’t broken the law, and he hasn’t hurt anyone,” Trigg said. “But the Club is disappointed that this is yet another in a series of silly incidents involving Bernie.”

Trigg said investigations into the complaint were difficult because the Club has not been able to contact the person who sent an email to an Adelaide radio station.

“At this stage we still have had no contact with this person and they are not on our membership list. This makes it very difficult to assess,” he said.

“There are several elements of the ‘complaint’ that we don’t believe are correct. But Bernie has admitted that stripping down to his underwear in a hotel is inappropriate in a public place.

“The Club’s response is as much about this being the latest in a series of such silly episodes, all of which represent an enormous amount of wasted time, and a considerable distraction to the Club.

"We'll continue to support Bernie, and keep working with him to make him the best footballer and person he can possibly be."
