Adelaide utility Chayce Jones says his mind is set on continuing to “move forward” after recommitting to the Crows for another three seasons.

Jones signed the deal off the back of a purple patch of form, averaging 18.4 disposals and 2.8 marks from 11 AFL appearances.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, the 23-year-old said he was excited to be locked in as a Crow until at least the end of 2026.

“There’s been a bit of a process behind it all, things take a bit of time, but I’m happy to get it done and happy to be a Crow,” Jones said.

“We’ve shown over the first half of the year that we are on an exciting journey and hopefully that can continue with this good group of young players at the Club.

“I won’t celebrate it too much though, it’s one of those ones where you’ve just got to keep moving forward and keep showing that consistent brand of footy.”

Jones also took the chance to reflect on his strong patch of form and revealed how a change in mindset helped take his game to new heights.

“The big thing for me this season is that I’ve been able to attack it with a great mindset,” Jones said.

“You go to every game and there are different roles and slightly different game plans each week.

“So I think just having 100 per cent faith in what I can bring to the side has made a massive difference this season.”

The Crows sit in seventh spot on the ladder after 13 rounds, and have a bye this weekend before travelling to the Melbourne Cricket Ground to face ladder-leader Collingwood in Round 15.

Jones said he could not wait to get “into the fight” for a spot in the finals in the second half of the season.

“The first half of the year has been a good stepping stone for us, and now we just want to continue on that path,” Jones said.

“(The bye) has given us a good chance to reset ourselves and be ready to get into the fight (for the finals) in the back half of the year.

“It’s a good position to be in, and we can’t wait for the challenge ahead in the second half of the season.”
