Adelaide midfielder Rory Laird is available to play in Saturday night’s game against Gold Coast after his one-game suspension was overturned by the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday night.
Laird was charged with rough conduct for his tackle on Brisbane’s Lachie Neale in the third quarter of Sunday’s win at Adelaide Oval.
The Match Review Officer graded the incident as careless, with medium impact and high contact, and handed Laird a one-game suspension.
The Club challenged the ban at the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday night with Laird pleading not guilty to the charge and his counsel Andrew Culshaw arguing if the incident was deemed a reportable offence at all, then the impact should be classified as low.
Mr Culshaw said the tackle was not unreasonable in the circumstances and did not warrant the charge of rough conduct or a suspension.
The tribunal dismissed the charge and Laird is available to play Gold Coast this weekend.
