Crows forward Taylor Walker had a simple request from his eldest son Hugo on Thursday night ahead of the clash with Carlton - boot four goals.

“On Thursday, it was a 7pm game and they (Hugo and Louis) go to bed at 7pm, so on the way out I said to the boys ‘how many goals do you want Dad to kick?’,” Walker told Triple M Breakfast with Roo, Ditts & Loz on Tuesday.

“Hugo said; ‘four, dad’.

“I was like ‘righto, mate, I’ll see what I can do’.”

Walker starred in the 56-point win against Carlton, kicking three goals - one less than Hugo’s request - and the youngster had a cheeky response to his Dad.

“I woke up Hugo the next morning and he said ‘how many did you kick, Dad?’

“I said only three, mate.

“He got his fingers up and was counting and said ‘one for me, one for Louis, one for Harriet, so Mum misses out, does she?

“I was like, ‘yeah, she missed out this time.’ ”

Adelaide’s victory over the Blues followed strong wins against Port Adelaide and Fremantle respectively.

The veteran key forward said he was most impressed with the Crows’ team defence and their ability to remain composed during big moments.

“I think the four quarters was the most pleasing thing for me,” Walker said.

“To be able to do it in a blockbuster game on a Thursday night and in such a historic round of football in Gather Round was very, very pleasing.

“In our contest we were outstanding, our ability to defend the opposition, we lost inside-50s by two and usually when you lose inside-50s it means you don’t win.

“So our ability to defend the opposition at the moment is what’s so pleasing.”

The Crows are now preparing for Hawthorn in Tasmania on Sunday afternoon, after four games at Adelaide Oval.

Walker said the challenge now was to remain consistent and continue to the solid form.

“We’ve had a month of football here in South Australia and it’s now a great challenge for our group to be able to back up such a good game on the road down in Tassie against Hawthorn,” Walker said.

“They’re (Hawthorn) playing some really good footy, their attack on the footy was outstanding on Sunday and it was good to get a little visual on what they do.

“Their pressure around the footy is awesome as well, so we are going to have to bring our A game on Sunday to beat them down in Tassie.”

Adelaide plays Hawthorn at the University of Tasmania Stadium on Sunday, with the first bounce at 12.40pm (ACST).
