Adelaide and Port Adelaide have faced off 52 times, with the Power holding a slight advantage in the Showdown head-to-head ledger – 27 wins to 25.
The Power have held the bragging rights in recent times, having won four of the past five meetings.
Last time the sides played was in Round 23 2022, where Port Adelaide won by 56 points.
The two sides played in Round Three of 2022 where now Adelaide Captain Jordan Dawson wrote his name into Showdown folklore, kicking a goal after the siren to hand Adelaide a four-point win.
For his heroics, which included 24 disposals and 664 meters-gained, Dawson won the Showdown Medal.
The game was also Adelaide Senior Coach Matthew Nicks' first Showdown win.
Port Adelaide Senior Coach Ken Hinkley has coached against Adelaide 19 times, having won 10 of those fixtures.
Showdown 53 will be the new Skipper's first time leading the team out, making him the seventh Crow to captain a Showdown side.
Forward Taylor Walker is Adelaide’s most successful Captain in Showdowns, having won seven as Skipper.
There has been one Showdown which has taken place in the AFL Finals, when the sides met in the 2005 Semi-Final, which Adelaide comfortably won by 83-points.
Adelaide’s biggest Showdown win is 84 points which came in Round 20, 2017 thanks to four-goal performances from both Josh Jenkins and Eddie Betts.
Three-time Club Champion Rory Laird has been one of Adelaide’s best in recent times against Port, averaging 28.8 disposals, 5.4 clearances and six tackles in the last five meetings.
Harry Schoenberg has stepped up in the four Showdowns he has played since joining the club in the 2019 draft, averaging 22.8 disposals, five tackles and 4.3 inside 50’s.
For Port Adelaide, forward Todd Marshall has caused problems for Adelaide’s defenders, averaging 3.5 goals and 5.8 marks in Showdowns since 2020.
Mark Ricciuto and Sam Jacobs have won the joint most Showdown Medals for the Crows with three. Port Adelaide’s Robbie Gray has won the most medals all-time with five.
Walker has kicked the most goals in Showdown history with 44 from 20 games while Tony Modra, Peter Vardy and Warren Tredrea have booted the most majors in a single game with seven.
Power midfielder Travis Boak holds the record for the most Showdowns played in all-time with 28, while Brodie Smith (21) has laced up the boots the most amongst active Crows players.
There have been 35 Showdowns played at Footy Park and 17 played at Adelaide Oval.
Port Adelaide held a winning record at Footy Park – 19 to 16 – however Adelaide has got the better of the head-to-head battle at Adelaide Oval – nine wins to eight.
If Adelaide wins it will be just one game behind in the Showdown head-to-head.
