Adelaide will unveil father-son selection Max Michalanney in its season opener against GWS, with the youngster set to make his debut on Sunday.
Senior Coach Matthew Nicks told Michalanney, who became the Crows’ first father-son selection at a National Draft in November, of his selection in front of teammates and his parents after training on Thursday.
Michalanney’s father Jim played 211 games and in four premierships with Norwood between 1974 and 1986, making him eligible to be drafted by the Crows under the AFL’s father-son rule.
The 19-year-old defender was part of Adelaide’s Next Generation and Father Son Academy last year and played three League games for Norwood, including the semi and preliminary finals.
He was named in the under-18 All Australian Team in 2023, after impressing at the national championships which included being named SA’s best player against the Allies and Victoria Country.
Adelaide’s squad for its clash with the Giants will be named later on Thursday, before the final team is announced on Friday.
The Crows play GWS at Giants Stadium on Sunday at 12.40pm (ACDT).
