Adelaide cruised to a 59-point win over West Coast on Friday Evening at Mineral Resources Park in Western Australia.

The Crows played an extended 26-man squad for the game, giving fans a final look at what to expect from the team heading into Round One.

Here are the five takeaways from the match:

Red hot start

In stark contrast to last week, Adelaide was hot off the blocks to start the game, dominating the first quarter and showing that the hard work they have put in throughout the pre-season was paying dividends.

The Crows jumped out to a 30-point advantage at quarter time spurred on by a strong team defence and intent to win the ball.

Adelaide applied the tackling pressure early along with getting numbers behind the ball, leading to multiple repeat inside 50’s (20 to five in the first term).

Led by in-form key forward Darcy Fogarty, Adelaide made the most of its inside 50 dominance, kicking six goals in the term with the Crows No. 32 finishing with three majors in the quarter.

Keays fires

Ben Keays showed his ability to impact the game across the ground for Adelaide, splitting his time between forward and midfield.

Keays had no issues hitting the scoreboard finishing with an equal game-high four goals (one in each quarter).

When in the midfield, Keays brought the intensity with his hard tackling and willingness to get in and under to win the ball.

The 26-year-old finished the game with 18 disposals, seven marks, four tackles and eight score involvements.

Laird sets the tone

Midfielder Rory Laird was everywhere for the Crows against the Eagles.

In typical fashion, Laird was dominant at stoppages with his hunger to win the ball and unrelenting tackling enabling him to leave his mark on the contest.

The 2022 Club Champion ran hard all game trying to impact it when he could, providing support to his teammates by linking up plays. He was rewarded for his efforts with two goals.

Laird capped off a strong performance with a game-high 32 touches and 10 tackles – along with nine clearances and seven score involvements.

Dawson leads by example

Captain Jordan Dawson played an important role for Adelaide off halfback, able to read the play and launch the Crows forward with his booming kick.

Adelaide looked to get the ball in Dawson’s hands when possible with his decision making and disposal efficiency an asset for the side throughout the contest.

The 25-year-old led by example during the third term with a big defensive action, running back with the flight of the ball and putting his body on the line to spoil a marking contest in Adelaide’s defensive 50.

Dawson finished with 26 disposals – 23 effective disposals – 10 marks, six inside 50’s and six rebound 50’s.

Quiet achiever Hinge

Crows wing Mitch Hinge provided plenty of Adelaide's drive forward from the wing.

Adelaide's No. 20 finished with a game-high 582 metres gained from 18 kicks and five handballs at 74 percent efficiency.

Hinge also grabbed nine marks and five tackles for a strong all-round performance against the Eagles.
