Rookie Chris Schmidt produced a best on ground effort in West Adelaide’s 11 goal defeat of Central District on Friday night to further push his claims for an opportunity at AFL level.

Playing on the ball, Schmidt collected 15 kicks, eight handballs and nine marks to lead the charge for the Bloods midfield, with his clearance work a feature.

For the Bulldogs, Jack Gunston had six kicks, three handballs and four marks playing as a wingman and at half forward.

In the other game on Friday night, rookie Aidan Riley was one of Sturt’s best despite the heavy defeat to Norwood at Adelaide Oval.

Playing in the midfield, Riley finished with nine kicks, 13 handballs and three marks and was again good in close winning the contested ball.

Port Adelaide defeated Glenelg on a close game on Saturday afternoon at Alberton Oval.

Rookie Tim Milera was one of the Magpies’ best with 15 kicks, three handballs, seven marks and he kicked two goals playing at half forward.

For the Tigers, James Sellar collected six kicks, 11 handballs and had 14 hitouts and was solid in the ruck throughout the game.

Jarryd Lyons had a good first half for the visitors winning most of his possessions at the stoppages. He finished the game with 11 kicks and four handballs.

South Adelaide defeated North Adelaide on Saturday night with Myke Cook performing well for the Panthers.

Playing across half back, Cook had eight kicks, eight handballs, three marks and was very accountable for his opponent all game.

Rookie Matthew Wright was again good for the Roosters in the midfield with five kicks, 13 handballs and three marks.

In the SANFL reserves, Jared Petrenko played for Norwood while his side the Eagles had the bye. Playing on a wing, up forward and ending in the midfield, Petrenko kicked three goals and contributed to three others, and finished with nine kicks, eight handballs and four marks.

Will Young lined up for the Redlegs, also kicking three goals and played forward and back. He collected 10 kicks, two handballs and two marks.

Sam Jacobs returned from injury and played for South Adelaide’s reserves and got through the game unscathed. He had 38 hitouts, nine kicks, nine handballs and when moved up forward in the last quarter he kicked two goals.

Rookie Lachlan Roach played on the wing for the Roosters and had eight kicks and 10 handballs.
