Adelaide will take a cautious approach in recalling young forward Josh Rachele.

The 18-year-old has missed the last two weeks with a hip injury and is still in doubt for this weekend, assistant coach James Rahilly confirmed on Monday.

“Might be tight this week, he’s still in the rehab group,” Rahilly said.

“He is running across the ground… we’ll just be careful with that one.

“When he’s ready to go, we’ll make sure he’s right to go.”

Despite the loss on Saturday, Adelaide’s forwards combined well, with majors to Taylor Walker (five), Lachlan Murphy (three), Darcy Fogarty (two) and Riley Thilthorpe.

“I think we’re pretty consistent for four quarters. So yeah, there's obviously some pleasing aspects of it (the loss),” Rahilly said.

“The boys have been working hard to create options ahead of the ball.

“The mid and the half-backs, the way they delivered the ball to the forwards gave us every opportunity… look at how dangerous they can be when the ball is delivered like that.”

Rahilly also heaped praise on Adelaide’s tackling duo - Sam Berry and Rory Laird.

“It was an amazing tackling game for the numbers we had,” Rahilly said.

“Sam Berry (had) 17, so they recorded 37 between them.

“Rory finds a lot of the ball and helps us in that area, but then his ability defensively is great.

“He's been a super player for us, so it's great for our young players to see someone like that putting so much effort in.”

Adelaide takes on Sydney at the SCG on Saturday at 1.15pm (ACST).
