Adelaide mid-season draftee Brett Turner will make his debut for the Crows in the SANFL this weekend.
The Crows recruited Turner with Pick No.4 at last month’s Mid-Season Draft from SANFL side Glenelg.
Turner, a strong midfielder/forward, has not played since Round Four while recovering from a foot injury.
The 25-year-old will line up against his former side when the Crows play Glenelg on Saturday afternoon.
Adelaide SANFL Senior Coach Michael Godden said Turner had proved he was ready to make his debut for the Club in the State League.
“It’s great for him to get this opportunity,” Godden said.
“I have no doubt that it’s going to be a challenge for him playing against his former team in his first game for us.
“But it is wonderful that he’s got an opportunity to pursue an AFL career and we are really happy to have him.”
Godden said Turner was a “powerful inside mid” who was strong at the contest but also skilful on the outside.
“For a player who’s coming in mid-season, all you want to see is effort and the rest is going to be pretty new from him, but we just want him to play the way he always has, with instinct,” Godden said.
Turner averaged 24 disposals and 1.5 goals per game in the first four rounds of the 2022 SANFL season.
In the 2021 SANFL season, Turner averaged 22 disposals, almost six clearances and seven tackles.
He also impressed in the SANFL Grand Final for the Tigers with 21 disposals, four clearances, six tackles and a goal in the loss to Woodville-West Torrens.
Turner was a West Adelaide junior who played 64 League games for the Bloods before joining Glenelg in 2021.
Adelaide will face the Tigers at Glenelg Oval on Saturday at 1.10pm.
