Adelaide forward Darcy Fogarty loves getting back to his hometown of Lucindale in the southeast.

And during the Crows’ bye week, that’s exactly what the 22-year-old did.

Fogarty, who was born in Adelaide and moved to Mt Ebenezer near Alice Springs before settling at Lucindale with his family when he was three, was also able to train with his junior footy Club.

Speaking on The Crows Radio Show, Fogarty said he was grateful to have had a run around at his old stomping ground at the Lucindale Football Club.

But after not playing at the club for the past five years, Fogarty enjoyed a “taste of country footy again”.

“I just went home for a couple of days (during the break), I went back to Lucindale,” Fogarty said.

“It was good to go back and reset a little and chill out on the farm for a bit.

“I was lucky enough to go back and train with the Lucindale lads, which was good fun. I hadn’t been there for a couple of years.

“It was good to get a bit of a taste of country footy again which was nice.”

Fogarty credited the Lucindale Football Club and the community in the southeast for helping his footy career take off.

“I was very lucky I started at a pretty healthy Club in Lucindale,” Fogarty said.

“It’s a pretty good sporting town considering how small it is.

“I was lucky with opportunities and we had a real, tight-knit club to start off with.

“I was able to train with the seniors at a pretty young age.

“I think that sort of helped fast track my footy a little bit, getting used to the bigger bodies.

“It all sort of stemmed from there and I am pretty grateful for what they’ve done.”

The forward has played eight games so far this AFL season and booted 10 goals.

He hoped to find a bit more consistency heading into the back half of the year.

“I’ve been a bit happier with the last couple of games, so hopefully we can build in the back end of the year and keep tracking in the right direction,” Fogarty said.
