Adelaide Senior Coach Matthew Nicks is keen to have defender Jordon Butts and youngster Josh Rachele back in the side ahead of a clash with Gold Coast on Sunday.
Butts returns after a challenging month, which included a concussion sustained against Geelong, and a week off due to the AFL’s health and safety protocols.
Rachele has also been named after missing the last two matches due to a corked thigh.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Nicks said the pair would be a welcomed addition to the team, as it aimed to beat the Suns.
“It’s good to have Buttsy back in the side, he’s a key pillar behind the ball for us,” Nicks said.
“It was a matter of getting him right, making sure he’s ready to go.
“Josh Rachele was one where we’ve been able to freshen him up.
“It’s a pretty big challenge for these young guys to come in first year - especially after what they’ve been through the past few years.
“We felt like he needed some time to freshen himself up. We think it’s a long year and this will be really good for him, so hopefully he comes out firing.”
The Crows enjoyed a 31-point win against West Coast before having a bye last weekend.
Nicks said his side was ready to attack the second half of the year and hoped the hard work players were putting in at training would pay off with results.
“We said prior to the break we have complete clarity on what we are not getting right and our areas to work on,” Nicks said.
“The areas we are working on are our execution and finishing in front of goals but also execution around the ground.
“Our guys do a hell of a lot of work in that space.
“The second half of the year will be us packaging it up together and hopefully getting some results.”
Adelaide takes on Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium on Sunday at 2.50pm (ACST).
