Adelaide defender Tom Doedee says a strong start is crucial to the side bouncing back in its Round Eight clash against Carlton at Marvel Stadium this Sunday.
The Crows will be looking to recapture their strong form after going down to GWS at Adelaide Oval last weekend.
Doedee said players let themselves down from the first bounce against the Giants and the focus was to not let that happen again this weekend.
“Obviously we don’t want to start the way we did last week,” Doedee said.
“It’s a huge thing for us to start well, coming off a bad week and there’s no better team to do it against like Carlton because of the way they’re playing, they’re high flying.
“It’s a big task for us, but I think we are up to it.”
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Doedee said the side had reviewed the loss well and identified ways to improve.
He said being mentally and physically ready to go from the first bounce would go a long way to securing a win.
“As leaders, we had a chat and we brought a few of the other players in - the older boys - and just talked about what went wrong, how did it go wrong and how do we shape it up,” Doedee said.
“Then in the team review it was just to look at the individual moments, like ‘what can you do better here to help the team?’
“All in all it was a team review which was good.
“It wasn’t quiet, it was everyone chatting through it figuring out what went wrong, how it went wrong and how we can better it.
“We put the changes in place that hopefully come Sunday we’ve made those changes and can actually impact the game in the first quarter.”
Adelaide plays Carlton at Marvel Stadium on Sunday, with the first bounce at 4.10pm (ACST).
