Adelaide forward Stevie-Lee Thompson is set to line up in her fourth AFLW Grand Final on Saturday and is vying for a third Premiership.
The Crows will take on Melbourne in the 2022 AFLW Grand Final at Adelaide Oval after beating Fremantle in last week’s Prelim.
Despite having plenty of experience playing in big games, Thompson says this season’s Grand Final will be just as special.
“To be honest with you, they’re (the Grand Finals) all completely different,” Thompson, who notched her 50-game milestone last week, said
“We’ve all grown as individual athletes and I know I’ve grown since being a little girl in 2017 - I was scrawny and didn’t really have much muscle or anything.
“Going into it now you think you’ve got more to give and you have a lot of support as well.”
Thompson, who made her AFLW debut against GWS in Round One, 2017, was elevated into the Crows leadership group this season.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Thompson said she had enjoyed leading the young stars coming through and had some advice for those hoping to claim their first flag.
“I just need to be the leader they’ve appointed me to be and that’s all I can do and communicate as much as possible,” Thompson said.
“(I’ll) allow them to enjoy the ride because it’s been a long one and we are definitely looking forward to it.”
Thompson said the side was as hungry as ever to win but expected the Demons to put up a strong fight.
“It’s exciting,” Thompson said.
“Being able to play in another Grand Final is great but winning will be… what we have been training for since September last year.
“We have to play Crows footy - it’s fun, fast, exciting and being together as one - that’s our Crows footy.”
The AFLW Grand Final between Adelaide and Melbourne is at Adelaide Oval on Saturday, with the first bounce at 12pm.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased through Ticketek. Entry for children aged 17 and under is free and AFLW Club Members are also free.
