After a 22-point loss to Geelong on Friday night, Adelaide slipped to second spot on the AFL ladder.

In only his third AFL game, Hugh Greenwood was the leading tackler on the ground with 11. Only Richmond skipper Trent Cotchin and Port Adelaide onballer Brad Ebert (12 each) laid more tackles than Greenwood for the round. He led the League for tackling attempts (18).

The former basketballer also equalled Geelong captain Joel Selwood’s effort of nine clearances.

Young defender Jake Lever finished with 10 intercept possessions. Only North Melbourne’s Scott Thompson (13) had more in Round 11. Lever finished with 14 disposals at 100 per cent efficiency.

Matt Crouch held his own in the midfield, winning seven clearances from his 27 possessions. He also generated an equal-game high six inside 50ms and applied five tackles

Brad Crouch was Adelaide’s leading possession winner with 28.

The Cats only generated one more forward 50m entry than the Crows, but were far more efficient. Geelong scored from 60 per cent of its inside 50ms compared to Adelaide, which only scored with 47 per cent of its forays forward.

Hard-working Crow Tom Lynch was involved in 12 scores at Simonds Stadium – only Collingwood star Adam Treloar (13) has more score involvements.

The Crows lost the all-important contested possession count by 34 on Friday night – only Hawthorn had a worse contested possession differential (38) for the round.

In a reflection of Geelong’s dominance, Adelaide also had the second-worst uncontested possession differential (-88) of any team.

The Crows are the best team at generating scores from turnover, but scored only 29 points from Geelong turnovers on Friday night – well below Adelaide’s average of 79 points for per game.
