Star onballer Rory Sloane has launched into equal-third place in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year award.

Sloane, 27, earned seven votes from coaches Don Pyke and Ken Hinkley for his outstanding performance against Port Adelaide in Showdown XLIII on Sunday.

The Crows vice-captain amassed 30 possessions, including 17 contested, along with seven tackles and a goal. Sloane also had a round-high 10 inside 50ms.

The courageous onballer is now equal with Hawthorn midfielder Tom Mitchell with 69 votes on the season leaderboard behind Richmond’s Dustin Martin (104 votes) and former teammate Patrick Dangerfield (94).

Showdown Medallist Sam Jacobs was the top vote-getter in Sunday’s victory over the Power.

The reliable ruckman, who claimed his third Showdown Medal on the weekend, won his duel with Port ruckman Paddy Ryder, earning a match-high 42 hit-outs along with six tackles and two crucial goals.

Jacobs was awarded nine AFLCA votes for his performance.

Captain Taylor Walker, who placed second in the Showdown Medal voting, attracted five votes from the coaches. The 27-year-old led from the front with eight marks and three goals from his 23 possessions.

Walker has now polled 42 AFLCA votes for the season – second only to Sloane at the Club this year.

Matt Crouch (four votes), Eddie Betts (three), Brad Crouch and Tom Lynch (one each) completed a Crows sweep of the minor votes in Showdown XLIII.

Six players earned a perfect 10 votes in Round 20. Josh Kelly (GWS), Dyson Heppell (Essendon), Marcus Bontempelli (Western Bulldogs), Brad Hill (Fremantle), Jack Steele (St Kilda) and Kane Lambert (Richmond) all attracted maximum votes.
