Adelaide midfielder Matt Crouch will play his first AFL game in nearly 12 months in the pre-season trial against Brisbane on Friday.
The Crows have taken an extended 25-man squad to face the Lions at Metricon Stadium with the 2017 Club Champion Crouch fit for selection.
Assistant Coach Nathan van Berlo confirmed Crouch would play with restricted minutes, however the extended bench “should make that time easy to spread out”.
“It’s really pleasing for Matty,” van Berlo told the media on Thursday.
“He had a really challenging year (in 2021) with his groin, a lot of frustration.
“He’s been able to put forward a big chunk of pre-season and comes in for the hitout tomorrow.
“He’ll have some capped minutes, but with a squad of 25 we’ll be able to spread that time easily.”
Defender Mitch Hinge also returns after an extended stint on the sidelines.
Hinge played Round One last year as the medical substitute but suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in the upset win against Geelong.
Wayne Milera did not make the trip to the Gold Coast but is still on track for the regular season.
“Wayne isn’t in the squad, but he’s certainly in our preparations for Round One. Make no mistake about that,” van Berlo said.
Draftees Josh Rachele and Jake Soligo will make their first appearance for the Club, as confirmed on Thursday morning.
A total of 28 players were available for selection with a number unavailable due to injury and health and safety protocols.
The match is open to the public and will be broken up into four 28-minute quarters.
Friday’s game gets underway at 10.30am ACDT (10am local) and will be broadcast live on Kayo.
