Adelaide defender Chelsea Biddell is enjoying being part of the Crows’ strong back six which has conceded just 117 points in seven matches.
But it’s team success that drives her to continue improving and keeping opposition forwards to low scores.
Biddell made the permanent switch from the forward to the backlines at the start of the 2022 AFLW season and has not looked back since.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, the 23-year-old said this Saturday’s clash against second-placed Fremantle, which also has a 6-1 record, would be hotly contested.
But she backed Adelaide to come out hungry for the win.
“I’ve been pretty happy with my form, I’ve been playing consistently which I haven’t really done previously,” Biddell said.
“I’ve slotted into the backline nicely and I am happy to play my role for the team.
“We are six and one, so we are pretty stoked with where we are at this point of the season.
“We’re up and about… the vibes are definitely up.”
Adelaide’s inaccuracy in front of goals has let the side down over the past few weeks but Biddell had confidence in it improving.
“It’s disappointing to not finish in front of goals but I back our skills and I back our forwards,” Biddell said.
“I was a forward so I know what it’s like and the pressure you’re under.
“We shifted our focus a bit this week to finishing in front of goals and hopefully that shows this week.”
Biddell said Adelaide had been working hard on the track this week and it looked to beat one of the best sides in the competition.
“It’s a really exciting opportunity, the Dockers are a really good team,” Biddell said.
“We love our pressure, it’s the reason we have been able to win games.
“Continuing that pressure and that hardness at the contest is what we pride ourselves on, so working on that and building on that as we go forward.”
Adelaide takes on Fremantle at Fremantle Oval, WA, on Saturday, February 26 at 2.40pm (ACDT).
The League will celebrate Indigenous Round for the second year in a row with the Crows wearing the special guernsey designed by Eastern Arrernte man Pat Caruso.
