Adelaide midfielder Ben Keays has signed a two-year contract extension to remain with the Crows until the end of 2024.
The 24-year-old has produced two ultra-consistent seasons since joining the Club as a rookie in 2019 and established himself as an integral part of the midfield.
Keays arrived at the Crows after 30 games with Brisbane and in his first two seasons at West Lakes he played 38.
His consistency and performance was recognised on Club Champion night in both seasons with Keays finishing fifth in 2020 and runner-up this year to Rory Laird, and in his first season he also received the Players’ Trademark Award.
He played every game this season averaging 28 disposals, five clearances and six tackles while becoming a potent threat inside 50 with 12 goals.
“Ben arrived at the Club with the right attitude of wanting to work hard and earn his spot in the team and that’s been evident in the football he has played,” Adelaide General Manager List Management and Strategy Justin Reid said.
“He has earnt the respect of his teammates and coaches which has been recognised in best-and-fairest voting in both seasons he’s been with us and the improvement he has shown makes us excited for what’s still to come.
“He’s reliable, works hard and we are very pleased that he has recommitted to the Club until at least the end of 2024.”
Keays said re-signing well ahead of when he was due to come out of contract next year served as motivation for the new season.
“I can’t thank the Club enough for showing faith in me and wanting to sign me up,” Keays said.
“Their faith makes me hungrier to work hard to pay them back.
“I really believe we have a special group, we have so many guys motivated to get the best out of themselves and it’s great to be a part of. To basically build from the ground up over the last two seasons, the journey is going to be very rewarding.”
