Adelaide fans have had their say on the Club’s best trade and there’s little surprise as to who took out the competition.

The trade that brought two-time premiership star and dual Norm Smith Medalist Andrew McLeod to West Lakes was the supporters’ favourite.

AFC Media chose eight players who formed part of the Crows’ biggest trades and almost 7000 fans cast their vote to have their say on who they believed was the Club’s best.

McLeod, who could’ve ended up at Fremantle if not for a few sliding door moments, polled 90 per cent in the ‘Grand Final’ against Darren Jarman (nine per cent).

Adelaide gave up Chris Groom, an up-and-coming forward, in exchange for McLeod in 1994.

McLeod retired 16 years later as an AFL Hall of Fame member with 340 games, two premierships, two Norm Smith medals, five All-Australian jumpers and three Club Champion awards to his name.

Jarman, meanwhile, was 29 when he was traded to Adelaide from Hawthorn.

But it became a recruiting coup, as he was an All Australian in his first year with the Crows and then twice a Grand Final matchwinner.

AFL great Eddie Betts made it to the semi-finals after proving too strong for three-time Showdown Medalist Sam Jacobs, but lost to the eventual winner (90 per cent to four per cent).

Scott Thompson, who was traded to the Crows from Melbourne, knocked off Wayne Carey in the opening round (94 per cent to five per cent), before falling in the semi-final to Darren Jarman (80 per cent to 20 per cent).
