Despite the conclusion of the AFL Trade Period on Wednesday, the 2018 national draft order is far from finalised with clubs able to trade selections for another four weeks.
The window to exchange draft picks will close on Friday November 16, but re-open for live pick trading when the draft starts on November 22 at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne.
Adelaide is well placed for the draft, being one of four teams currently holding three first-round selections with picks 8, 13 and 16.
The Crows also have pick No. 21 which was received from Carlton in 2017.
Expansion side Greater Western Sydney (picks 9, 11 and 19) and crosstown rivals Port Adelaide (5, 10, 15) will feature prominently on the first night of the draft, while Carlton will go in with the prized number one selection.
Of the 18 AFL clubs, the Gold Coast Suns go into the draft with the strongest hand, with three selections inside the first six (picks 2, 3 & 6) at their disposal. They also hold a pair of second-round selections (24 & 29) as the Queensland side looks to re-generate their list.
Both the Crows and Power have been linked to trading up in order grab one of the Suns’ early selections.
Adelaide list manager Justin Reid said the Crows would re-assess their position in the coming weeks.
“The top-end talent in this year’s draft is strong and we look forward to bringing in some more elite young players,” Crows list manager Justin Reid said on Wednesday.
“As we have said before, we are also open-minded about trading up the draft order if the right opportunity presents in the next couple of weeks.”
