Wayne Milera Jr has taken his game to the next level across half-back for the Crows this season, with his ability to break out of the pack a dazzling display of his talent.
On FOOTYplus, we head back to where it all began, Central District, where his childhood mentor Scott Stevens not only coached Junior but also played alongside his father, Wayne Milera Snr.
Stevens said it was always clear Milera Jnr would be a star.
“From the first training session you could see he just had something special as far as his skills, his understanding of where to run and what to do,” he said.
“He went from being really quiet and a little bit introverted to a young man that really came out of his shell as he matured.”
Baseball young gun, Curtis Mead, has signed a contract with the Philadelphia Phillies at just 17 and is ready to impress for the Adelaide Bite again this season. We catch up with Curtis and his old man, Tim, a former Adelaide Giants player from the 1990s.
We speak to Japanese apprentice jockey, Ryusei Sakai, and trainer, Ryan Balfour, to find out why SA has become the destination for Asian apprentice jockeys looking to hone their craft.
