Four Adelaide players have been selected in AFL Media’s AFLW Team of the Week following the Club’s spirited win over the Western Bulldogs at Norwood Oval on Saturday.

In her first game of the season after missing a fortnight with a quad injury, reigning AFLW MVP Erin Phillips was in outstanding form, booting four crucial goals from 15 disposals and four marks playing predominantly in the forward line.

Last season’s AFLW Rising Star Ebony Marinoff racked up 21 disposals and laid 15 tackles against quality opposition in a dominant midfield performance across all four quarters.

Defensive duo Chelsea Randall and Sarah Allan were both named in the backline after playing important roles on the weekend.

Crows co-captain Randall chalked up her second team of the week selection this season after collecting a game-high 24 disposals and laying six tackles across half-back in a typically uncompromising performance.  Her willingness to put her body on the line saw her awarded six free kicks in what was a phyiscal affair.

Allan was near-impassable in the last line of defence, with the key defender’s pressure stifling several scoring opportunities in the close contest.  Allan laid four tackles and had eight disposals, with her influence on the game far more telling that her individual numbers.

The Crows will look to build on the win and keep their hopes of a top-two placing alive when they take on Greater Western Sydney at Blacktown International Sportspark next Sunday at 4:35pm.

Chelsea Randall was near-unstoppable on Saturday

The team is selected to mirror the All Australian team: five defenders, six midfielders (including a ruck), five forwards and five interchange players.

Like the All Australian team, we have selected players in general categories, rather than in traditional positions. The 16-a-side setup often means teams play with differing configurations, making set selections (e.g wins and flanks) difficult.
