Midfielder Cam Ellis-Yolmen will be sidelined for 2017 after scans revealed a ruptured Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) in his right knee.
Ellis-Yolmen, 24, hyperextended his knee during the first half of Adelaide's JLT Community Series game against Richmond on Friday night.
Further assessment on Monday revealed the extent of the injury.
The big-bodied onballer has played 14 AFL games since being recruited by the Crows with pick No. 64 in the 2011 National Draft.
He played two senior games in 2016, with opportunities scarce because of the Club’s low injury count.
Ellis-Yolmen continued to press for senior selection by being one of Adelaide’s best SANFL performers.
Crows Head of Football Brett Burton said the Club would support Ellis-Yolmen through his rehabilitation.
“The injury is really disappointing for both Cam and the Club. We were excited about him pushing his claims for Round One selection,” Burton said.
“We will consult a specialist this week with the view to Cam having surgery, which will unfortunately rule him out for the season.
“I have no doubt Cam will be diligent in his rehabilitation and we look forward to supporting him through that process.”
