Footballers across the state are encouraged to show their wares at Adelaide’s first SANFL development squad training in early December.

The Club has already started forming its development squad for next year’s SANFL season with a host of talented players invited to the opening session of the summer.

Training will begin under new SANFL coach Ryan O’Keefe at Thebarton Oval from 5.30pm on Tuesday, December 6. Former Crows captain and new development coach Nathan van Berlo and ex-Central District champion Paul Thomas will also help coordinate the session.

The squad will train twice a week in the lead-up to Christmas before Crows coaching staff select a ‘train-on’ roster for the remainder of the summer.

O’Keefe said it was a fantastic opportunity for promising young footballers to unlock their potential.

“We’ve had some great success with our development program over the previous three seasons,” he said.

“It gives players from suburban and country clubs the chance to come out and develop their game.

“We’re eager to help any driven, enthusiastic and talented players take that step in their footy career and potentially play League football with us next season.”

O’Keefe to coach SANFL Crows

Adelaide fielded 13 development players in the SANFL this year for a combined total of 76 matches.

The SANFL Crows played finals for the first time this year, progressing to a Preliminary Final against eventual premiers Sturt.
