Reigning winner Eddie Betts is officially in the running for this season’s Goal of the Year crown.
Betts dominated this week’s Goal of the Year voting with his amazing snap against Greater Western Sydney last Saturday night.
Late in the third term of the clash with the Giants, Betts lunged at the footy and was stationary on the ground for split second as he fought to keep the ball alive, before exploding past two opponents along the boundary and snapping an incredible goal from about 40m out.

The contender was from almost the exact same position as Betts’ Goal of the Year winner at Adelaide Oval last season. Both goals were also kicked in Indigenous Round.
The goal attracted an astonishing 81 per cent of the vote to be the clear winner for the Round 10 Goal of the Year.
Betts also had a second contender among this week’s nominations, such was his incredible performance against the Giants on Saturday night. A desperate effort late in the game to seal his fifth goal of the match was good enough for nine per cent of the total vote.
Betts is the only player so far this season to earn two Goal of the Year nominations in a single round.

Sydney’s Gary Rohan was the final nominee for Round 10. He attracted 10 per cent of all votes for his effort against North Melbourne.
Betts is the first Crow to be in the running for the 2016 Goal of the Year title. Teammates Tom Lynch (Round Four) and Taylor Walker (Round Two) were also nominated earlier in the season, but both were unable to progress beyond the weekly vote.
