The SANFL has denied Andy Otten's appeal against a two-game suspension for making intentional contact with an umpire.
Otten made contact with field umpire Leigh Haussen late in the final quarter of Sunday’s SANFL clash between Adelaide and Glenelg at Gliderol Stadium.
Evidence was heard from umpire Haussen and Otten himself at Wednesday night's SANFL Tribunal hearing. The defender pleaded not guilty to the charge on the grounds he was suffering from concussion.
Otten was hoping to overturn the suspension which would allow him to play in Adelaide's SANFL upcoming clashes with South Adelaide and North Adelaide.
The 26-year-old's appeal was heard on Thursday night, but was denied by the SANFL.
Players suspended in the SANFL are also ineligible for AFL selection.
Glenelg’s Tim Sumner also fronted the SANFL Tribunal on Wednesday night. The former Gold Coast forward was hit with a three-game suspension after pleading guilty to striking the Crows defender.
The SANFL Incident Review Panel classed Sumner’s act as intentional, high, and of high impact.
