Adelaide has streamlined its on-field look with the traditional red, gold and blue hoops featuring on its three new 2016 guernseys.
For the first time since 2005, Adelaide’s home guernsey has returned to the original hoops design from 1991, the Club’s first season.
And the two new clash guernsey options – voted for by the fans – also feature the top three red, gold and blue stripes on white and gold bases.
These two concepts had strong support in an online survey completed by nearly 8000 members and supporters.
Crows CEO Andrew Fagan promised Members and supporters they would have a say in the clash designs when he arrived at the Club just over a year ago.
"The guernsey is an iconic part of any club and for our Members and fans to have input makes sense," Fagan said.
"Jumper designs always spark debate and divide opinion and in this instance we are thrilled that we can have two striking designs which fit with the Club's traditional tri-colour hoops."
The full hoops around the bottom of the home guernsey disappeared in 2006 to allow an extra panel of fabric to be inserted down the sides.
These panels made it difficult to match the shape of the hoops, which led to the use of a full blue section to split the front and back sections.
The 2009 guernsey came closest to returning to the traditional look but still featured a smaller blue panel.
Adelaide first wore an away guernsey in 1999. A red-based ‘clash’ guernsey was introduced in 2006 and the first of the recent white-based clash guernseys was worn in 2010.
Two of the 2016 style guernseys – home and the white-based ‘clash’ – are now available at the CROWmania store. The gold-based guernsey is available for pre-order and will be released early next year.
