Sydney’s dominance at the SCG on Saturday was reflected in the coaches votes.
No Crows polled votes in the 52-point defeat at the hands of the Swans.
In-form midfielder Dan Hannebery scored a perfect 10 to close to within 15 votes of Fremantle star and Brownlow Medal favourite Nat Fyfe at the top of the leaderboard. Hannebery amassed 40 possessions, 10 marks, four clearances and kicked three goals in his team’s big win.
Vice-captain Jarrad McVeigh was adjudged the next-best player on the ground after gathering 37 possessions, eight marks, six inside 50ms, five clearances and a goal. Former Crow Kurt Tippett, who kicked three goals, received five votes from Scott Camporeale and John Longmire.
Big-bodied onballer Josh Kennedy collected four votes to sit equal-eighth in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year award. Kennedy was instrumental on Saturday, with 32 possessions, six tackles, five clearances and two goals.
Young Swans Tom Mitchell (two) and Luke Parker (one) rounded out the voting. Mitchell finished with 37 possessions, eight clearances and eight tackles, while Parker was also prolific with 29 possessions, five clearances and two goals.
Hannebery was one of five players to receive a maximum votes from the coaches in Round 18, along with Geelong’s Cam Guthrie, Port Adelaide’s Robbie Gray, Western Bulldogs’ Stewart Crameri and Melbourne’s Bernie Vince. Five votes was enough for Brownlow Medallist Matt Priddis to move into equal third on the overall leaderboard level with Kangaroos ruckman Todd Goldstein.
Patrick Dangerfield remains the highest-ranked Crow on 45 votes ahead of two-time Club Champion Scott Thompson (40).
