Adelaide will regain its "anchor" in defence for Saturday's clash against the Sydney Swans, with key defender Daniel Talia completely over a bout of illness.

Talia was a late withdrawal from last Saturday's win over Gold Coast after falling ill the previous day.

The 23-year-old is the most experienced defender on Adelaide's books with 90 games to his name.

Talia has trained solidly this week and coach Scott Camporeale was 100 per cent confident the defender would be ok to take his place against the Swans.

"He's fine – he trained really well the other day," Camporeale said on Thursday morning.

"He's an All Australian defender so he shores [the defence] up a fair bit, he's an anchor of our team and he obviously gets the best opposition forward and almost always gets the job done.

"He's critical, not only for his role on the opposition's best forward but also, it's a young backline and his leadership has been outstanding really since Ben Rutten left the footy club."

The Crows will be out to beat just their second top-eight side this year when they face the Swans.

The Club's Round One win against North Melbourne remains its only success against a leading team, having lost to the Western Bulldogs, Fremantle, Hawthorn and West Coast.

Camporeale's men play four top-eight sides in their final six games.

The coach said knocking off the Swans at the SCG would be a confidence-booster.

"It'd be outstanding for the group, with their confidence going forward – we've got a tough run home, no doubt about that," Camporeale said.

"I'm not sure we need a 'scalp' but we do need to keep winning.

"At the end of the day, it's about wins and losses and who we play is irrelevant."
