Luke Brown hopes to overcome a corked thigh in time for Saturday’s clash with Collingwood.
The small defender, who held North Melbourne livewire Lindsay Thomas goalless until sustaining a heavy knock to his thigh, was subbed out in the third quarter of Adelaide’s win on Sunday.
Head of Football David Noble said Brown would need to pass a fitness test later in the week.
“Luke didn’t stay in at the Club overnight so that’s probably a good sign, but we’ll just assess him as we go through the week,” Noble told the Dr Jones and Partners Injury Update.
Midfielder Sam Kerridge will also need to pass a test on his injured hamstring. Kerridge suffered a minor hamstring strain at training in the lead up to the Club’s last NAB Challenge match.
“Sam did some training over the weekend, so he’s getting closer,” Noble said.
“He’ll be assessed during the week.”
Veteran onballer Scott Thompson and draftee Jake Lever made successful returns from injury in Adelaide’s SANFL trial game on Saturday. Thompson has recovered from a hamstring complaint, while Lever played his first match since rupturing his ACL in December, 2013.
Young defender Sam Siggins has joined the injury list with a buttock complaint and is likely to be sidelined for several weeks.
