Brad Crouch’s Showdown showstopper has been voted as the best Crows Play of the Year for 2014.

The play edged out Rory Sloane’s ‘tackle of the century’ and Adelaide’s Round Nine buzzer beater to claim top spot in our polls on afc.com.au.

It took a courageous effort from Matt Wright to set up the goal midway through the final term of Adelaide’s Round 15 win over Port Adelaide.

Wright’s full body smother saw the ball spill to Jarryd Lyons just outside the Crows’ attacking 50m on what was a wintery June night at Adelaide Oval.

Lyons, who was substituted into the game just minutes earlier, delivered the ball to a leading Patrick Dangerfield with the Crows ahead by just 10 points with 13 minutes remaining in a tense final term.

In typical Dangerfield fashion, the Crows’ joint vice-captain swept up the half volley at full speed before dishing off to Crouch in the corridor.

Crouch quickly threw the ball onto his left boot and nailed the goal to the sound of a huge roar from The 19th Man.

It was the 20-year-old’s first game in three months after Crouch sustained a fractured tibia the last time the two sides met in March.

The goal all but sealed an eventual 23-point win for Adelaide in the Club’s first-ever home Showdown at Adelaide Oval.
