Defender Scott Stevens was the popular choice among both coaches in Saturday’s night’s win over Hawthorn.

Stevens, who had 19 kicks, eight handballs and 13 marks and was a key figure down back for Adelaide, received nine out of a possible 10 votes.

Rory Sloane and Ben Rutten both featured with five votes each, while Patrick Dangerfield’s second half effort saw him receive three votes.

Carlton’s Marc Murphy, Brent Moloney from Melbourne and Dean Cox from West Coast were the only players to receive the maximum 10 votes in round one.

The 'Champion Player of the Year' is voted on week to week by both of the Senior Coaches on a 5,4,3,2,1 basis.

Each Senior Coach votes on their match only and any player suspensions are disregarded.
