Adelaide defender Patrick Parnell will miss this week’s clash with Carlton with a shoulder injury.

The 22-year-old suffered the injury against Melbourne on Thursday night and although he was able to finish the game he will now face a stint on the sidelines.

“Paddy had an incident during the game against the Dees where he subluxed his shoulder, we’ve had it scanned and there are a couple of options available to us for treatment,” Crows High Performance Manager Darren Burgess said.

“One is conservative and the other is through surgery, so we are exploring those at the moment.

“He’ll miss this weekend and then we’ll assess our options from there.

“Pleasingly he was able to get back on the field and finish the game which is testament to his character, but he’s had some difficulties with that shoulder over pre-season so we’re just exploring our options at the moment.”

In other injury news, midfielder Harry Schoenberg has moved a step closer to returning to football from an Achilles injury.

Schoenberg had surgery after rupturing his Achilles tendon in Round 24, 2023, and has been in rehabilitation since then.

“All things going well, Harry will play next week in the SANFL on some modified game time so that’s exciting and everyone is pretty stoked to get Harry back and we’re looking forward to seeing him run around,” Burgess said.

“His rehab has gone really well, I’d say he’s slightly ahead of schedule but it’s about the right time for Harry to come back.

“We’ve assessed him and he’s met all his objective markers so he’s good to go.”
